Full course description

Supporting students with Learning Disabilities (LDs) requires more than understanding a diagnosis, it requires understanding how students learn, process information, experience challenges, and build on their strengths. This comprehensive 10-hour professional learning course is designed to equip educators with the knowledge, strategies, and practical tools needed to effectively support students with Learning Disabilities in today's classrooms.

Participants will explore the characteristics of Learning Disabilities, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, while gaining a clearer understanding of psychoeducational assessments and what a diagnosis means in the classroom.

The course also examines the role of working memory, processing speed, and executive function, helping educators understand how these cognitive processes impact learning, attention, organization, and task completion.

In addition, participants will explore the social-emotional impact of Learning Disabilities and learn practical strategies, accommodations, and supports that help students build confidence, develop self-advocacy skills, and experience success at school.

Each module is grounded in current research and practical application, providing educators with evidence-informed strategies, accommodations, and instructional supports that can be implemented immediately. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of Learning Disabilities, increased confidence in supporting diverse learners, and a collection of downloadable resources to add to their professional toolbox.

Whether you are new to supporting students with Learning Disabilities or looking to deepen your expertise, this course provides the foundational knowledge and practical strategies needed to help every learner reach their potential.
